This document covers each facet of museum conservation providing guidance and procedures for the care of all materials available in the National Park Service Museum Collection. NPS is an agency of the United States federal government that manages the conservation and historical properties with various title designations. The handbook has been written as a reference guide on how to manage, preserve, document, access and use museum collections and covers specialized storage, exhibit environment standards, conservation treatments and emergency procedures. It is extremely detailed and gives a thorough overview broken down into easily readable chapters, it includes a handy quick reference which lists an index of each topic referenced within the handbook and where to find it in the document. This information would help researchers to handle the care for the collection, both while it is being indexed and in storage and while on exhibition.
