This government-produced resource details many of the textiles
used by Australian fashion designers and manufacturers over the last 50 years. It
provides information on specific topics such as batik textile design, lightweight
wool manufacture, Indigenous textile production, and licensing agreements
with textile manufacturers. Links to useful fashion and textile related
resources are included with information relating to Australian fashion and
design history and Indigenous cultural heritage and art practises. The writing
style considers a range of audiences and although the information provided is
an overview, it lists a variety of Australian based textiles. The weakness of
this website is that the information is limited and has not been updated for
several years. This is a good resource for those
wanting to begin to explore the variety of textiles used in the Australian
fashion industry, however some of our other resources we have included are much
more detailed.
